The Catalan giants have been linked to Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix
A Barcelona chief has revealed their chances of signing the forward.
The uncertain future of Atletico Madrid forward, Joao Felix, remains in the air following a reported fallout with the hierarchy of the Spanish capital club.
Felix, who has expressed his desire to leave Atleti, has been linked heavily with a move to Barcelona after he named the Catalan giants as his dream team.
La Blaugrana, who are looking to strengthen their attack following the departure of Ousmane Dembele to Paris Saint-Germain, have not hidden their admiration for the 23-year-old.
The club’s president, Joan Laporta, has now provided a crucial update regarding the signing of the forward.
Laporta speaks on signing Felix
Following his side’s 3-4 comeback win against Villarreal, the 61-year-old Barcelona chief took to the press to respond to a few questions.
Responding to a query about the club’s pursuit of Felix, the business mogul said to Movistar, as quoted by transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano:
“You should ask Deco [Barcelona’s sporting director]. We have a salary margin for last-minute operations, more than one, and we are working on it.”

Laporta’s words would only fan the embers of a pending move for Felix. However, Barcelona’s current financial situation remains a concern.
The Catalans have struggled to comply with La Liga’s strict Financial Fair Play rules all summer but it appears the club’s chief remains confident they can add more signings before the transfer window closes.
According to a report by Goal, Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo and Felix rank highest among the players extensively linked with the Catalans over the past several weeks.
Also, the club could recoup a large sum of Euros from the potential sale of Ansu Fati and Marcos Alonso, who are touted with a possible move away from La Liga champions.

Atletico to terminate Felix’s contract?
Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Atletico Madrid dismissing Felix’s exit attempts as he sought to terminate his contract and force a move away from the Spanish club this summer.
The Portuguese youngster received a hostile reception at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium during his club’s La Liga opening game against Granada, where the home fans booed him.
However, Atletico has reportedly told Felix he will need to buy out his own contract if he is that desperate to leave this summer after describing his termination request as ‘a joke’.
