Injured Barcelona superstar duo will not return right after the international break
The past few weeks have left a bad feeling for Barcelona in terms of injuries as they have lost key players like Frenkie de Jong, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski, who have all joined Pedri in the infirmary.
The Blaugrana will break for the international window after tonight’s game against Granada and will hope to recover their injured players soon after, with crucial games against Athletic Club, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Real Madrid coming up.
Frenkie, Lewandowski’s return will take longer
However, Barcelona might have to wait a bit longer to wait for a little while longer to see Frenkie de Jong and Robert Lewandowski back in action.
Indeed, as per Alejandro Segura on Radio MARCA, the superstar duo will not be making a comeback right after the international break and will take a bit more time to return from their ailments.
De Jong injured his ankle during the game against Celta Vigo and it was reported that he could miss five weeks of action.
As for Lewandowski, he too sustained an ankle injury during the match against FC Porto earlier this week and is expected to be out for close to a month.
However, there had been some lingering hope that they could recuperate a bit more quickly than expected and return in time for El Clasico at the very least.
But that might not be the case as the pair as both De Jong and Lewandowski will need time to make a comeback.
What about Pedri and Raphinha?
While Lewandowski and De Jong might take a bit longer, there is greater optimism when it comes to the return of Pedri and Raphinha.
Pedri himself has confirmed that he is close to making a full return and expects to be at his best for the Real Madrid clash.
As for Raphinha, his recovery has also generated optimism and there is a possibility he could be back soon after the international break.
